When it comes to a start-up business, three of the most important decisions to be made are location, location and location. Choosing the best location to suit the Made in the Maritimes Artisan Boutique retail venture requires careful determination and scrutiny. In our Mission Statement, we outline that we will support entrepreneurial growth; this means that any decisions made during the start-up phase, including location, must have a positive flow-on effect to our partners, those Maritime entrepreneurs who will be providing their products to our store.
This phase of the start-up has taken longer than anticipated, but that is not a bad thing. As mentioned above, we must be certain that the location supports our needs as business owners while ensuring we are able to offer optimum exposure to our partners. Without a confirmed business location, it is challenging to move forward in many other aspects of setting up the business. Some timelines have been pushed out slightly but we are still looking at April as our opening month. Overall, we are currently in a good position as we move towards finalizing negotiations on our location.
Determining how to achieve this optimum exposure has come through the consideration of such things as proximity to competitors, foot traffic, accessibility, demographics of the area and how business friendly the area is. An important item for us to consider is expansion. When Made in the Maritimes Artisan Boutique has grown to a point where additional space is needed, we must be confident that expansion will be possible in the area we are in.
Before any contracts or agreements can be entered into we need a business address; to get a business address we need a location. We are taking the process of finding a location very seriously and consider it one of the most important decisions we will make for the success of Made in the Maritimes Artisan Boutique. For all those who hope to partner with us as suppliers to our store, we are aiming for an address confirmation within the next two weeks. For all those customers out there who are getting excited about visiting Made in the Maritimes Artisan Boutique, hang in there, we still plan to open in April 2015.
